Oil temp gauge and mystery noise on 4KCSQ
I seem to have a problem with the bar graph oil temp gauge in my 87 4KCSQ. When the car is
started cold, two of the sections of the bar graph light up separated by an unlit section. When
the car gets up to temp, the gauge reads fine...
Any ideas?? Sending unit or gauge?
The second thing I have noticed is an intermittent growling (other than the warbling...) coming
from up front on the driver's side. In an attempt to remedey this situation and and perorm
general maintenance, I have replaced the following:
wheel bearing (all four corners)
all suspension pieces (I did the whole car)
rotated the tires
had the car aligned
new tie rod assembly
changed tranny fluid
It seems loudest at @ 40 mph and is unaffected by steering input or lateral G's. There is also a
slight vibration in the gas pedal. I suspect the outer CV joint, but the boots are good and I
don't get the standard "clicking" when I cut the wheel and drive around. Any ideas??
God I hope its not the tranny/front diff......
Thanks
Bill
