Um, the block with the thrown rod is just to serve as a a jig for
setting up oil cooler hoses one day.
The oil pickup tube has a *nice* big dent and gouge in it where the rod
tried to go. Holes in both sides of the block, crack at the oil filter
mounting, and an "almost puncture" dent near the top of the oil pan.
All I'm using is a plastic pieces that was snapped onto the bottom of
the pickup screen part.
I look at its oil pump, thinking, "Gee, what if mine is cracked... do I
dare try to use that one?"
No, I don't. You're quite right.
If my oil pump is hurt at all, I will have to dig all the way into the
(healthy engined) 1984 parts coupe and use *its* oil pump.
