power steering

i like power steering when i am parking, but in aggressive driving 
situations i prefer manual.  i was thinking about rigging some sort of 
switch to de-activate my power steering on command in my 1990 80q.  
anybody have any experience doing something like this?  i will not see 
the car for another week due to vacation and i just had the idea, so i 
have not had a chance to poke around with this goal in mind.  ideas?
