Early in optical physics classes I learned the memory aid "blue bends best". 
  That's why the sky is blue, blue scatters in an atmosphere full of 
moisture and particulates, leaving a yellowish looking sun.  Blue light 
isn't best in inclement weather.  Longer, redder wavelengths are less likely 
to scatter, but don't reflect back as well in some cases, and you lose some 
color references.  What's "best"?  Whatever works for you.  I have a lot of 
hi-tech, expensive aux lights in my garage, I'm most happy with my euros in 
Michigan weather.
