when I say static mixture, I mean the basic mixture setting that results
in the open loop richness/leanness when cold starting.
Adjusted via 3mm hex key at the tiny hole between the fuel distributor
and the air bootie. CW = leaner resulting in either higher frequency
valve duty cycle or control pressure actuator current. CCW = the
opposite.
This setting is supposed to be at a "middle" position of the control
systems ability to compensate, your manual will give you the spec
usually. This allows the ECU to lean or richen the mixture as needed,
via OXS feedback. If this is set too "lean" the starting condition is
not enriched enough, since when cold the engine runs "open loop",
without taking OXS readings. So long as it is not too far off, the car
will then sometimes run fine when warm.
