RE: Duosound? 8-inch speakers...

The only way to mount 8 inch would be to cut the metal underneath, I presume you have a saloon? I took out the existing speakers got some ply wood and drew around the existing speaker using it as a template (it's an odd hex type shape), cut it out with my jigsaw and then the hole for the speaker. I used 6.5 inch Alpine 3 way and they do sound good. I then bolted the ply onto the metal shelf using the existing holes and then bolted the speaker to ply. Turned out to be very solid, I have done this on both of the 100's I have had and works a treat. I also ended by passing the Audi speaker wiring which looked crap and very thin and ran decent cable all the way from the head unit to the rear speakers. Duo sound was some means of rear seat passengers plugging in head phones and being able to listen to music without the sound coming out of the other speakers, I think someone else may know something different.

		Hi!

I have made up my mind to purchase a used Blaupunkt Toronto
RDM-126 CD head unit (instead of a more "wanted" Kenwood
unit) and also some JBL and Pioneer speakers for the 200.
One thing has me worried though. I looked into the Haynes
manual and it mentions a "duosound" item taking a signal
from the head unit. What is this thing?

Also, any idea on how to fit 8-inch speakers into the factory
holes under the rear shelf? I look at the rear speakers
yesterday and saw they are not mounted to the rear parcel
shelf, but to the metal under it instead. They're currently
6 inch or 6.5 inch units and they are fitted into prepared
holes for the magnet and the mounts.

		Thanks. :)
