Start at the turbo outlet - look for shrapnel in the hose to the
intercooler, the intercooler itself and then the airway up to the
throttle body. Condensed oil vapour lines all of the hoses and collects
shrapnel. One of the products of condensed oil feels a little gritty to
the touch - best idea is to collect some on a magnet and wash it in
degreaser. Check the resulting rubbish under a medium (15x to 50x)
microscope.
Any serious shrapnel and you're into washing out the intercooler, hoses,
inlet manifold and _perhaps_ the head ports, although not much settles
in there because the ports are relatively dry.
