RE: 91 100 teanmission ?

Just done this very same job last week, I presume yours has the 087 3 speed trannie. You undo the nut where the dip stick tube runs into the gearbox and pull the tube out. Boy does it pour out fast, best to do when it's hot.

Once the fluid has drained out you need to undo the 4 13mm bolts and remove the trannies sump pan (more oil will come out), next you need to remove the two cross head screws holding the strainer pan and gasket (inside) on. Either replace the strainer or clean with methylayted spirit and allow to dry, do this with the pan also. On re assembly you will need a new strainer gasket (paper) and also a new sump gasket (rubber), do over torque the strainer pan screws or the sump pan bolts. Re fill thru the dip stick tube once re connected. Underneath is a mail from a fellow lister that I got before doing the job.

P.S. any problems give me a mail, Mike, hope you don't find me sharing your mail with another lister.

Cleanliness is a must. Assuming you're like the rest of us (sidewalk mech) and don't have a lift, make sure no dust/dirt is allowed to blow around the work area. Rags MUST be lint free and use latex gloves.

Supported the pan with a piece of wood while undoing the pan bolts. It's a good idea to know approx. how much ATF was drained, so you don't overfill. Refill qty. according to Bentley is ~3 liters.
Parts req'd:
Filter screen : 010 325 421A
Gasket for screen: 010 325 443
Pan gasket: 010 321 371B

Once pan is off, you'll see the valve body and centered on it is the filter screen cover.
2 bolts remove the cover, screen filter and gasket - note gasket alignment for proper reinstall. Cover bolts are tightened to 4Nm (35 inch pounds).
Pan bolts are tightened to 20Nm (15 ft.lbs) in diagonal sequence. I started tightening sequence at a corner bolt and had no leaks - used same piece of wood to support the pan while reinstalling.
When I did the job, a friend was "helping" - actually standing there waiting for me to finish. When I crawled out from under the car, he said, "OK let's drive it and check for leaks". For a split second I thought yeap that's next. NOT. Don't forget to add the ATF! I know it sounds dumb, but after you drain fluid, you spend about 10-15 minutes putting new filter/gasket on and checking/admiring your work. Just remember to add the new ATF!
Drive car at least 15-20Km to get tranny up to operating temp. then check for pan leaks and proper ATF level.

Does anyone know where the drain plug is located on an '91 100 4 spd auto
transmission? I crawled all around under the car and couldn't find anything
looking like a drain plug. No Bentley (don't do much work on this car), so I
		need some help. TIA
