Not on the Alcon's...Virtually every Alcon caliper can be had with full dust
and weather seals. In 4 years of working with the Alcon product, I have yet to
see a street caliper that needed a rebuild...
On the other hand, we also work with the brembo/porsche calipers and have had
to rebuild a few sets.
Biggest thing on the wilwood calipers is that the body isn't as strong as it
should be and the lugs which mount the calipers aren't stout enough to handle
abuse year after year. Part of the reason wilwood calls it a racing only
caliper is that in addition to yearly rebuilds, it needs to be inspected
frequently to see if in fact it's still safe to be driving on.
IMHO, if a caliper costs $100, you should probably look at it as disposable.
