->> Hakkis 1's <<-

I use Hakki 1's with eco studs. Nothing else even comes close for low
noise, clear highway rides and, of course, stick ability in the muck
when it gets nasty. They dig right through it. These are 195/65-15's
mounted on my 1989 200 quattro turbo avant OEM BBS 6.5x15 rims. I live
in Northern Vermont and believe me, it snows and gets reeeal cold here
in the winter months. Ice driving and snow conditions change every
minute. We sometimes have snow covered roads for weeks on end. Makes for
very fun driving in the quattro. If you can get the tires to seal to the
rims well (clean the rim beads _very_ well before mounting) then they
"should" hold their pressure in sub zero temps. Always good idear to
check this often too.

I've tried Hakki 10's with (extremely noisy) and w/o studs, Blizzaks and
Dunlop Graspics HS-1s. The Hakki 1's with eco studs are hands down the
best IMHO for the type44 chassis. The Hakki 1's have many tall thin
sharp siped edges and a tread pattern that can't be beat. If you can't
use studs, they still work better than Blizzaks. Both John Buffum and
all the Pro Rally guys in VT run Hakkis on their quattros. Either 10's
or 1's, NRW's, or the new NRQ's.

I plan to purchase a fresh set of Hakki 1's w/eco studs this winter for
my Porsche too. Matter of fact, they are the same size as the Avant...
