RE: MH 99

It would be great if Michele showed up, but that isn't a name I've ever
heard as even being possible. Hurley Heywood is a definite, and I'd heard
that there was some effort afoot to have Stig Blomquist attend ... nothing
confirmed though. I can't imagine that they'd even ask Hans J Stuck to
attend, given his current bosses. The others that were on my wish list were
Bobby Unser and Walter Rohrl, but I've never had even a hint that they'd be
there.

Apparently they'll have the Silver Arrows car on the track ... I hadn't
heard a positive report on the TransAm or IMSA cars, but it does sound like
they'll be pretty likely. I heard that perhaps one of the Pikes Peak cars
will be taking laps. There will be a lot of cars brought over from the
museum in Ingolstadt, including the other marques of Auto Union (e.g. NSU).
The most disappointing news to me was that the Earles would not let any of
the rally/SCCA/IMSA cars compete in any of the predefined classes. I would
be surprised to find this to be the first time in the history of the event
where not one single example of the featured marque competed in any of the
events. I'd say if anything, perhaps some NSU cars might be able to make
it, but I haven't heard of any.
