Window regulator assembly for 82 Coupe

I am having a considerable amount of trouble with my drivers side power window 
for my 82 Coupe. I took the assembly out, had someone look at it and they 
advised me that the gear was broken. I went out to a local junker and located 
what I thought was a replacement regulator. The one I picked up seemed similar 
until I attempted to install it. The bolt patterns did not correspond. The 
cable lengths on the replacement unit were both shorter on the top and the 
bottom. I can only conclude that it might have come out of a 4000 4 door. 
Bottom line is that I have both a broken gear and a broken cable (and the break 
is inside the winding mechanism, and around the gear wheel, I presume).

Is it repairable?
Can I get a new gear and cable?
Are these regulators common on the Coupe (and Coupe GT) from 1982 to 1987?
