The amplifier in your head unit may have a "bridged" output stage,
which means that the "negative" speaker terminal isn't ground.  It's
a negative signal output.  If the wiring has the negative leads
tied together it may cause the teo channels's negative outputs
to "drive" each other causing the problem.

The solution is to get rid of the 3-wire setup and feed individual
wire pairs to the rear speakers.
