And in the news of the bizzarre:
The local newspaper reports that the Watsonville, CA (where I went to
high school one year) police department has requested the city council
to ban the colored tread tires from the city streets. The reason? Gang
bangers might do burn outs in eachother's "territory" using their colors
in a huge automotive pissing contest. Apparently, if your gang colors
are red and you go out in the street and see a burnout with some blue in
it for example, you will get so pissed off that wholesale war will break
out. I guess spray paint is so hard to get that it's a lot simpler to go
get new tires and a car with enough horsepower to smoke the tires.
