True, the 2.0L Audi 80 block would be a good mill for that rig coupled with
the Diesel Vanagon bellhousing adapter and motor mounts. There was an
article
in EC awhile back about 4cyls into 2.1 Vanagons. One of the tuning firms in
CA was producing a kit for the transplant. I'd bet the Vanagon list gurus
have a writeup on that mod. Sounds a much easier route than the 5cyl
option.
But I've got a spare NF 2.3 motor I'd love to get rid of if you want :)

actually, there is a company called Eurospec already doing the I4 into a
vanagon, they ise a new golf 2.0L not a bad route, but i prefer the 5cyl.
