About ten years ago we had a spate of expensive accidents in company
cars, and the insurance company offered us two options:

$3000 per driver per year
$2000 per driver per year if every driver took the BSM Defensive Driving
      course.

So we all did the course. It was _very_ useful - like when turning
across traffic, don't turn the wheel until you want to move. If you
turn it while waiting, a rear-ending will send you into oncoming
traffic. I can't remember all the points, but I _do_ remember using
everything I could remember at the time and I suspect a great deal of it
is incorporated in the way I know drive. At least, I've done 150,000
miles since then without a fender-bender except for being T-boned by a
Mini about a year and a half ago.

BSM is the British School of Motoring, BTW. May have a web site.
