I'd also add, that if you intend to keep the car long enough, you'll have
to remove that heater box again, either for a blower or another core. I
have had good luck using body putty made by 3M. I'm not sure exactly
what 3M calls it, but the product is primarily used to seal around
firewall hoses etc. A bead of this stuff around the heater box will seal
better than the foam Audi gasket, and will not harden, thus making it
infinitly easier to remove the heater box next time around. It's
available at any decent body shop supply.
