Electrical Problem - Power Windows
Hello all,
I am completely frustrated. After converting my 85 5KS from an automatic to a
5 speed, the windows wouldn't work. I noticed that after about an hour, they
would work again. I discovered a ground that was not hooked up and that
seemed to clear up the problem, except when the car became extremely warm
(stop and go city type driving)... However, I usually only had to wait 5
minutes before the windows would function again. Today, after running around
during lunch, the windows wouldn't work at all. I could get the driver's
side window up, but only by taking the key out, putting it back in and
turning on while holding the window button down. The window would go up
about an 1/8". The passenger window wouldn't go up at all... I did this
repeatedly until I had the driver's side window completely up... but the
passenger window still wouldn't work.
I looked in the Haynes manual and it doesn't appear that the windows and the
transmission electric (We disconnected the wires for the auto tranny, and
then hooked up reverse lights) are on the same circuit...
The questions I have are:
-Could I have disconnected or shorted a wire for the windows when I had the
console out for the conversion?
-Is the tranny electric somehow tied into the power windows?
-Where is the circuit breaker located for the power windows?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I do not want to have to bypass the
OEM wiring and hook the window motors to the battery just to use them.
Thanks,
Arden
