typ44 multifunction temp sensor switch, afterrun relay questions
the coolant level warning light comes on in my '86 5kTQ's autocheck display,
approx 30 seconds after i start the car, so i concluded thru process of
elimination (and help from the list :<) that the multifunction temp sensor
switch was bad. i got another switch today, and plan to install it tomorrow.
any tips on installing it? it looks hard to get at, because of its
position... i'm assuming i can just remove the upper rad hose to drain the
coolant, then remove the switch, or do i have to remove that whole thermostat
housing that comes out of the top of the engine? any ideas, or could someone
point me to a FAQ?
Also, i had another question regarding the afterrun relay on the typ44Turbos.
the afterrun system didnt work on my '86 5kTQ, and i concluded it was the
relay after touching both wires together with no response at the temp sensor
switch, also on the T-stat housing. i removed the afterrun relay from my
other '86 5kT, and installed it in my '86 5kTQ, and now the fan and afterrun
turbo coolant pump both come on.
However, they dont come on right away, when the car is hot, as they do in my
other 5kT. could there be something wrong with the resistor?
where is the afterrun resistor?
thanks in advance -
chris
