Shock + Spring SEVERE PROBLEM!
It seems that the mechanic who did the work on my car had too much beer
before he did the job. He mounted the rear driver's shock completely wrong.
He mounted it with only one bracket and on the outside of where it should
have sat. The rear shock should be bolted between to upright brackets, he
used the inner bracket and bolted the shock to the outside of that bracket.
So the bolt goes through the shock then one metal bracket and that's it. It
should rest snuggly between the two brackets and be bolted through BOTH!
This a safety issue, and possibly may have caused some damage which I won't
be able to see at the moment. I could be dead right now because of a q-list
recommended mechanic. I mean this just plain bad craftsmanship, plus the
other rear shock bolt isn't even torqued all the way in.
I like this mechanic too, he is super nice, sounds super smart when it
comes to Audis, but I'm glad that I'm not in a hospital bed after driving
this car for 200+ miles with the setup like this. I even went 120mph in
this car, that bracket could have given out and the rear end would have
fallen off at 120mph. Talk about road kill.
