Quattro Questions From New Guy on List

Hello List,
I recently purchased an '87 5000S Quattro (non-turbo). It has no owners
manual, and I have had some difficulty deducing whether it has the 2.2 or
2.3 engine. Also I am unfamiliar with the operation of the "quattro knob"
and associated display , and need a little clarification  on what each of
the three positions represents. Do they put the car from 2wd to 4wd, or just
lock up the front, then rear differentials? I'm sorry for taking up your
time with such "basic" questions, but after a day of searching for the
answers on various web pages, I'm getting desperate. I would love to here
from any other subscribers with my same model, as well as anybody who has a
good soruce for owners manuals.
