type 44 rear muffler el cheapo replacements?

The rear muffler on my non-q, non-turbo, auto 5000s has seperated the shell
from the baffles after only about 15 months of use. Pipes are fine. Has
anyone had any success with a bolt or weld in replacement for just the
muffler?

Bosal replacement is $230-285Cdn, Speedy wants $300-ish...but to me, it's a
2" centre inlet/outlet, 17" body, and about a  5" by 8" oval. Cripes, Speedy
has mufflers for $25!

Anyone done a Thrush etc. replacement here?
