'88 80 Q Idle Problem -- Repost

I am experiencing some idle problems in my '88 80Q. Before I
got my A/C compressor fixed a few days ago, the idle was
rough though not too significant, sometimes especially when
stopping with the clutch in, brake in, gear engaged the engine
would go off. Sometimes when starting the car the idle would
be so low. The solution sometimes would be to turn off the car
and start it again and that would fix the problem. Since I got
my A/C fixed the idle is around 900 but still is be rough. When
the A/c compressor is engaged and the vehicle is moving, there
are some tell tale surges. My mech tells me he suspects one of
the hoses leading to the valve intake might be the problem as it
might be cracked. He hasn't had a chance to throughly look at
it. I was wondering if this is the case, how labor intensive is it to
replace the lower hose (there are two -- both leading to what I believe
to be the idle control module and the valve intake). What else should
I look for in trying to find the cause. Thanks.
