Re: Audi / Frankfurt Autoshow website

sorry virtual bob, but i have to disagree with your assessment of audi's
websites. like the cars, audi's websites are advanced technology that not
everyone appreciates. yes, they could do their site in html alone, but what
fun would that be. audi's sites, like their cars, take the experience to a
different level for the afficianado.

audi's sites use primarily flash technology. flash is a small plug in which
is available for virtually every browser version commonly used and allows
viewers to enjoy enhanced versions of websites that utilize animations,
sound and immersive interactivity. while the downloads may be initially
slow, once they are downloaded, there is virtually no "re-load" time. and
the best part of it is it costs absolutely nothing to use. think of it as
having a choice between an '84 4000 and a 2000 TT. which would you rather
drive for the same (free) price.

yes, the audi sites may not please everyone. just those of us that
appreciate advanced technology, thinking outside of the box, and an
appreciation for those who feed the souls of the few devotees. (hey, kind of
sounds like the average quattro fanatic, doesn't it).

if anyone needs help setting up their browser to view the audi sites, feel
free to write and i will be happy to guide you through it. it's easy,
really.

good surfing.

You have to turn on the stinking Java capability on (er, if your browser
got it). Definitely a sign of bad web site design to use Java to load the
web page. These people must not heard of HTML...

Java makes everything slow, buggy, crash-prone, and
patience-challenging... I haven't seen a site which use Java properly.
