VC operational theory includes the preload of the device, haldex included.  
The above is "kinda" right, but if you look at all the part time 4wd systems 
(including the "old" syncro and the "new" 4motion), we are talking about 
95%/5% split or more.  This means that there are primary drive wheels in all 
cars with VC and/or Haldex's.  The accepted concept of this "preload" is that 
the device is part time 4wd, but probably (like the DOHC vr6) is where 
vw/audi "claims" awd/quattro.  FYI, the only production device that you can 
clearly make your above awd "claim" is on the 959 PSK system.  All other 
VC/Haldex, for sake of accepted theory, are considered part time 4wd systems.
