They are almost certainly what you are calling "triple square", and
what I've called 12 point allen wrenches.  I'm certain both Porsche
and VW use 12 point allens on CV joint bolts; I've taken enough of them
off and on over the years, I've no question at all.  

Any good Auto parts shop, or tool vendor will have 12 point allen sockets,
you ought to get 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, and 12mm while you are at it.  You will
likely find things like door hinge bolts also take these wrenches.
