Before you file any claims, I'd try doing this first ... as for insurance, 
with Allstate, they *don't* increase premiums for a claim against your 
comprehensive coverage.  I got caught in a cinder storm and trashed the paint 
on my 200q but they didn't increase my premiums despite having given me a 
check for $4,200 to have it repainted (which, of course, I spent on some 8x17 
wheels and an RS2 comp turbo instead).
