loud tickin

 Hello Audi fans,
I've developed a problem, after having my clutch and all the necessary
gaskets and seals on my 87 5ksq(non turbo 2.3)to big a job for me don't
have the room($800 at dealer I supplied everything all O.E.) I've
noticed a rather loud ticking sound from under my valve cover or near
my plugs(I recently performed major tune-up) could it have anything to
do with the lifters,valves,(knock sensor?) any help would be greatly
appreciated. I'll be performing this job save some $

 87 5ksq (190k and still going strong,as long as i keep supporting it
and i will I'm such a softy)
 86 saab 9ktcd (121k girlfriends car not my fault)
