hall sensor help

Folks,
As some of you know I had attempted to change out the cap and rotor on my new 87
5KTQW the other day.  I had it apart, but wanted to find out if the rotor is
expoxied on (ALA the 16v VW's) or just tight.  Anyway, after putting everything
back together the car ran fine for a few days.  Not this morning though.  No
start....fault codes points to hall sensor.  The dealer explains that the hall
sensor is not sold seperate from the distributor....$419.  Any thoughts?  Help?
