Well, according to the Turbo magazine article, "The former allows for a 
short-path Audi S1-type intercooler."  I guess if you didn't know any better 
-- and at the time, I didn't -- it'd be easy to read these words and assume 
an intercooler had been installed even if a close inspection of the photos 
that accompanied the article suggested otherwise.  Hmmm....

For what it's worth, the MTM manifold Kim Collins used on his turbo-cabriolet 
conversion is definitely attached to an IC and by the looks of it, one very 
BIG IC indeed!
