'88 5KSQ Wiring Question

While checking the battery under my back seat yesterday, I found some
unattached wiring.  Can anyone help with their identification?  Everything
seems to work on the car.

-- single red/black wire terminating in a single red connector
--  2 wire red/brown and black/blue terminating in a double black Amp spring
connector

I cannot see anyplace that these wires should go.  They are obviously OEM.
Also, the negative battery terminal connector has an unoccupied male spade
sticking off of it.  What is this for?  Neither of the 2 connectors above
would fit on it.  I do not think that Audi has the American manufacturers
practice of making wiring harnesses with extra branches for every possible
option.
