Here in Europe, we have had both 80 and 100 cars (4k and 5k) with I5
carb engines.. They put out 115 hp from 2.2 litres, compared to 138 hp
from 2.2 injection.. We had 136/138 hp from all the NA 2.2/2.3 I5 gas
engines.. Right from 1978 to 1994.. For some reason, I personally
don't like carb engines.. I had an offer on an '86 Audi 100 quattro
with I4 carb engine, but I passed it on because it had a too small
engine and was only base-level trim.. I ended up buying a 100
Turbodiesel.. Even slower and no quattro, but half the price.. It
needed some work though..
Sometimes, I think I should have bought a quattro, but then I think of
all the goodies I got by passing it on, and then I think I'll buy a
quattro when I finish all school and start working.. But an old type
44 combined with a student's wallet is not a good combination for my
money, but good for everything else.. :-)
