Re: Speedometer lying at high speeds?

. Then he claims that

I have been driving my 86 5ktq since new. When I reset the MPG readout on the trip computer, it routinely indicates speeds 5mph slower than the speedo. From years of driving the car and observing speeds, I believe the computer. Mine seems to correct itself once I reach about 100mph or so--that would be contrary to your observation. I have always thought it was an intentional inaccuracy to slow people down. Honest, I'm not a conspiracy theorist!
My past VW's all had 85mph speedometers, so I basically ignored them.
