A6 4.2 remorse ...

Just kidding, I drove the A6 4.2 yesterday as a pennance for the
lousy deal I did on a trade of my 92 100CSQ, which is another
story altogether. Here are my i
pressions. At last some power, in fact enough to feel that you can
take a gap on a two lane, or slot around a truck on the
interstate. But I must say not as quick as 300 hp would sound. The
power comes quite late, after 3000, which to the extent that I was
motoring in the 100 it was the same. Handling was a little
disappointing. The ride is very firm, which surprised me because
you can provoke u/s quite easily despite the Q. This is not the
case with the 540 or the old M5 for example. None of the early
ones come with Nav/GPS or the warm weather shades. These will only
be seen around Xmas. This is mostly a dealer problem as the order
codes changed and most dealers did not know it. So when they input
the required code and the result was rejected, they gave up.
Instead of calling Audi who would have told them that the A6 V8
and S4 have different codes from their less endowed bretheren.
Mine is due next week, and I have to come up with a solution to
the ride issue. As you have already read the tires are Dunlop
9000s on 17" with /40 aspect ratio.
