Broken Axle on 87 Audi 4000CS

I had a new transmission installed on my 87 Audi CS 4000 in 4/99. Thursday 
the car made a loud banging noise and stopped. Engine will turn over but car 
will not go into drive or reverse. Had car towed to transmission mechanic and 
he said the axle broke. Replaced the axle and was going to take the car for a 
test drive, then the new axle broke. Now he says he doesn't know what is 
wrong with the car. I need help fast. Need car desperately.
