In the US at least, I think the 10th letter/digit of the VIN number should
be a letter, "A", "B", "C" etc., that will correspond with the year of
mfg. - i.e. mine is a 1993, the 10th bit in the VIN is "P" = 1993.  I think.
Some listers also seem to be able to pull a month build date off, but I am
not sure where that info is.
