Re: Theory and Practice

My father thinks OEM shocks and struts should last the life of the car and I
think they last maybe 40k at the outside. So, after much arguing, we agreed
to a compromise and I replaced the ones in his '91 100 at 126k. Needless to
say, one of the front strut cartridges literally fell apart as I removed it
and both of the rear shocks were covered in oil from a blown shaft seal...

All of which is a roundabout way of saying that before you do anything on
your car, start by replacing the shocks and struts. This won't change the
amount of body roll but it may make it more acceptable by damping it more ...
I always get a kick out of watching the heads of people who are in a car with
worn out shocks and struts bob back and forth as they drive down the road.
