The wires at the door hinge are a common culprit. When it comes to
switches in door handles like the 4k mirror ones, constantly
accumulating road dreck and rain and dust, I have no faith in their
ability to remain good.  For any length of time.  That may be where your
problem lies.  Try cleaning it.  Good luck.  I moved mine, after
fighting a losing battle with the switches in that location for 13 years
in three cars.
