I think you just described my exhaust sound.  2.25" from 4kq downpipe to
5kt muffler (similar to what you describe your muffler to be) to a 4kq
tailpipe.  "kewl" if you like that sort of thing but when you're not in
the mood for the noise, it won't go away and leave you alone.

PS, I think there is such a thing as too free-flow in n/a cars but I
have no idea how to determine where the "sweet spot" is if this is true.

PPS, All I know is I am trying to come up with a system that is a "bit"
quieter (I wouldn't mind just moving all the noise to above 3-3.5 k
rpms!) and never leaks at the currently strained donut flange
connections.  I think a two box system may help, even if both boxes are
pretty free flowing.

PPPS, I've been hassled twice by cops for mine.  Not a good thing.
