Re: snow tires for '00 S4
I use eco studded Hakki 1's from Nov 1st till March or April on my 1989
200 quattro Avant. I live in waaay northern Vermont (snowed this
morning) and wouldn't use anything else. We get the nasty ice
storms...remember? The local SCCA rally gurus here in town (John Buffum,
Lance Smith, etc) all run Hakkis. I prefer the eco studded 1's. The hwy
noise is very minimal and the traction in snow/ice is hands down the
best. I'm even ordering a set for my Porsche. Size for both rides is
195/65-15's. Keep them skinny and mounted on wider than normal rims.
Mine sit on 7x15's.
The Avant is setup for interstate driving to and from VT to MA with an
Eibach proKit spring set, Spax ext adj shocks (coil over in the rear)
and 205/55-ZR15 Dunlop sport W10's for the summer. When I mount the OE
BBS rims and Hakki 1's on they provide a great ride. Slammed, chipped
and fast.
