Re: '86 4KQ vs. "86 Honda Accord
Something needs to be said here. A car is really only as reliable as
the mechanics who built the damn thing. Some people get Audis that run for
years, some get Audis that die after 50,000 miles. I attribute that to
which factory, who built it(all of the line workers), and what time of day
the car was finished. We all know Germans get drunk after lunch while they
build das Audis, JK:-)
Actually reminds me of my mother's fabulous Saab 9000t. Got it used
after 2,000 miles at the dealership after a person sold it back because they
moved to Australia. Supposedly after tracking the car back to US delivery
point, someone noted that a black Saab 9000t, same delivery date as my
mother's, had an extra rough delivery off the boat. It had been lifted off
of the car boat and supposedly got dropped a few feet by the crane operator.
She did the tracking because the car was a serious LEMON. Leaking
windshield, leaking sunroof, loose engine!
So anyones Audi or Honda could have had an angry guy doing big time
engine work. I know robots do a ton, but human power is used to construct
these mechanical beasts so human error can result in a lemon. I noticed a
funny picture in the C/D TT extra magazine. A factory worker getting ready
to install shifter units and next to the shifters was a thing of Gummi
bears, my favorite, and some duct tape, yikes! Duct tape, uhh, hate to find
that in my TT! Although some Gummi bears would be nice, the German ones are
the best, Haribo!
Thanks!
