Re: '86 4KQ vs. "86 Honda Accord



    Sorry if this has already been said (I have not been following this 
thread for too long), but statistics show that the quality differential 
between different car brands is actually quite small.  Marketing is quite a 
powerful tool, and even though Honda owners are shelling out money for 
repairs, the quiet reassurance that the car they own is still a good, well 
engineered, and practical car keeps them feeling that their car is reliable.  
Of course, the UA disaster of the 80's ruined Audi's reputation, and even 
when one has to change the spark plugs they grumble about the terrible 
quality.  And of course, as any good consumer behaviour book will tell you, 
quality is not really in the product, it is in the mind of the 
consumer...percieved quality.  I love my Audi because of its character, 
personality, and history...and the fact that the last Audi I owned had 
250,000 miles when I sold it, and it still runs beautifully.  But then again, 
that darned reliability never gave me any good reasons to upgrade the motor!
