Jason - step one is to absolutely forget the name, address, phone number
and GPS coordinates of the dealer (unless you have a surplus cruise missile
you want to program them into . . .).
$1,600 for the rack and "some hoses" evidently includes the one they are
going to use on you - $1,600 for this job is a REAL hosing, although it
appears to be the going dealer rate.
Buy a rack from Jorgen, stainless steel sleeve, guaranteed as long as you
own it, about ONE TENTH the dealer's price - about $160. Take the top
(pressure) power steering hose and get it redone at a truck hydraulic
place, even if you don't think you need it (you do), about $25 to $30 TOPS.
Buy two liters of Pentosin and a handfull of assorted aluminum crush washers.
This is about a four hour job the very first time, and less if you ever do
it again (and you won't need to, on your car, if you get a Jorgen rack).
Procedures are in the archives. Get the alignment set after you're done.
Total cost should not exceed $250. And when you're all done, send me half
of what you saved, and we'll both be happy! <big grin!>
