In Michigan, any such discrepancy would void the ticket, Michael. There've
been cases where stop signs were half a foot above the statutory height or
were obscured by tree branches and tickets for running them were tossed. I
think you could argue the cop wouldn't have paid any attention to you at 35
or 40 mph if he knew the speed limit was 35 instead of 25. You also might
check the road signs to be certain they don't say 25 in the direction the
cop was travelling and 35 in the direction you were going. That's gotten
tickets voided here before.
