radio and car
stephane i goofed it _is_ a 5 digit code. i even have the manual...did yours
come with the remote? it's called an...x 034 300D...premium sound am stereo,
fm stereo electronic tuning radio with cassette player.
reading from the radio manual...'to unlock the esc system...the
correct code number must be entered using the preset stn selectors numbered
1 thru 5. the 5 code numbers must be entered in sequence to activate the
radio. a maximum of three tries are allowed. if you fail to enter the code
within the allotted time the radio must be returned to the dealer.
fyi...it has 18w per channel and uses 4 ohm speakers and has an fm frequency
response of 30hz-17khz +/- 3db
my radio is in the "help i've been stolen and will never play again
" mode.
i purchased my tap modified computer from a lister....from what i
know now i would obtain a chip from scott mockry or the list or from
intended acceleration...they have more safeguards than mine does. i also
bought a wastegate spring from scott mockry. following his instructions i
reinforced my intercooler and checked all other components as well as a
complete brake job including bomb..(which failed last week after only 4
months) i changed it under warranty. the improvements make the car
remarkable. last weekend i drove it 2500 km to northern quebec and back
without problem. at one point thru a prov park i was stuck behind a slowpoke
who would take the slow lane on the passing zones and then floor it. when i
became tired of his shenanigans i stayed in fourth at the next passing zone
and i floored it....i slowly gained on him up to 160kph..(100mph) at which
time i totally left him behind as i started to really accelerate. in case
anyones interested the road was empty except for the two of us...there were
no cross roads and no humans for 80 miles in either direction nice twisty
roads though. i still tend to slow down for curves after my spin-out on a
sandy curve last year. i guess i should go to a track school to learn about
the different handling of the quattro at the limit. meanwhile i take it easy
on the bends. it's quite amazing to have a safe and comfortable yet
inexpensive car that will easily do much more than 100mph accelerating
uphill. my wife gets a kick out of my boyishness :>)
