can you believe it?

It's 1am on Saturday morning right now. I just got back from a little
trip down the street. One block away, really.

I had received a page a while back. It was the police department.
They found my stolen Saturn. I drove down the road to pick it up,
(and walked back to pick up my rental car).

When I got there I saw my car, very dirty, but intact. The windows
were all there, the ignition switch was even there! The only things
missing were my radar detector, my flashlight and camera, and my
bag of emergency essentials in the trunk. They took none of my
tapes, my very recent door speakers, or my small flashlight in the
center console. The car has probably been sitting there all this
time. I bet the thieves thought it would be picked up right away. I
mean, where it was parked was on the next street, a block away
(the block is an empty field). I pull out of that driveway, staring in
that direction every day. Never noticed it.

I was and am flabbergasted. I had already moved on and bought
another car. That part is okay, but I just can't believe it's intact,
and I have it back. I didn't expect this.

It doesn't say much for Saturn security. I guess an alarm would be
necessary for those wanting to keep their cars.

They must've been kids, because there were radio station stickers
all over the car, and what looks like a bunch of spit marks. The
mileage was just about where I had left it. They took the new
bottles of oil and the filter I had in the back seat for the oil changes
that was going to happen soon.

Incredible.

Ken, still fixing the 5kcstq tomorrow, perhaps washing the Saturn
as well...
