Addendum to Home-brew wheel alignment 101...
On thing I forgot to mention is the importance of making sure the lines used
to measure camber are vertical ... I've got a small bubble level left over
from my audio days that has a small groove machined into the side of it so
that it can be properly oriented and clamped onto the line using a small
spring clamp. I don't know where you'd find one of these today -- mine
doesn't have a brand name or model number on it -- but a good alternative
would be to drop a plumb line from the steel tube and after you've
established the vertical reference, clamp it to a heavy object so it doesn't
move around and measure to the wheel from this.
I hope this oversight didn't screw up everybody who ran out to the garage to
align their cars last night... ;^)
