RE: Strange Growling + Starter Noise + Starter Hesitation when Hot

Alex,
The noise in the starter might be dry bushing inside, you might have to
disassemble it and grease the bushing.
The delay in starting (holding the key for a second or so) might be a bad
ignition switch, the contacts inside the switch go bad and you have to put
in a new switch (just the electrical part).
Take care,
Avi

Subject: Strange Growling + Starter Noise + Starter Hesitation when Hot

I have noticed a funky noise coming from the rear of the engine when it
is at normal operating temp. It is like a deep low growl, faint but
noticable with the hood up and engine running. The noise lingers then
dissapates then comes back. Any ideas?
Starter noise has been around almost every since I had it replaced last
year. When it's cold and I start the car everything is hunky-dory, car
starts right up. There is a lingering noise just after the starter is
stopped. Like a groan then it goes away, louder when colder. Anyone?
Also when the engine in hot and I engage the starter it doesn't do
anything for a second. The starter hesitates before cranking, then if I
hold the key it goes, but strange pause. Any ideas?

Thank you very much,
