Hello,
I've recently applied some film to the leading edges on my Ur-q. I
first saw it on another Ur-q and decided it wouldn't be too bad.
What I used is Not "Stoneguard", but something called "3M(tm)
Scotchcal(tm) Paint Protection Film". This stuff is available from
normal everyday auto parts stores. It is quite expensive for even
small amounts, I paid about $57 for a sheet 6 inches by 84 inches. I
was able to cut out sections for the various parts I was covering
without too much trouble. It comes with special application
instructions, which help when applying it to curves. It does stretch
some, to help get around corners and such.

Some part numbers from a 3M catalog:
051141-84904 6 mil base, (9 mil with adhesive) 4" x 84"
051141-84906 6 mil base, (9 mil with adhesive) 6" x 84"
051141-84911 6 mil base, (9 mil with adhesive) 12" x 84"

This stuff is supposed to be applied at temps above 50 degrees. This
is not the film to cover lights with, but it looks like it will keep
the small rock nicks from chewing up the leading edge of the hood.

HTH
