The driving lights come one only when the _high_ beams are on. At least
that's how the lights are wired on European models.
Frankly, as far as high beams are concerned I don't see the need for more
light output than comes from stock bulbs. The H4+H3 combination gives you
240W of high beam power. I have driven at night on one-lane roads at speeds
up to 140km/h and felt perfectly comfortable behind them, and it was before
I had the relays installed. Low beams are another story, a couple watts
more would be nice thing to have, but you are very likely to dazzle
oncoming traffic then... there's a very good reason why the wattage of
stock bulbs was set at 55W not 80W and the higher wattage bulbs are mostly
illegal in Europe. At the risk of being flamed by Phil ;-), let me tell you
that I find having a good quality, properly aimed fog lights a better
alternative to running higher wattage low beam bulbs.
